Moist, 79, of Ironsville, R. D. 1, Tyrone, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at 4:45 a.m. at Altoona Regional Health System -Bon- Secours Campus. He was born September 1, 1927, at Mapleton Depot a son of Moses Franklin and Laura Ruth (Williams) Moist. On October 15, 1955 at McVeytown he married Madeline Jane Harshbarger. Surviving is his wife, a son Donald J. Moist and wife Sandy of Tyrone, a daughter Deborah J. Briggs and husband Regis of Tyrone, five grandchildren, Heather Thompson, Anthony Moist, James Briggs and wife Amber, Matthew and Tanner Briggs and two great-granddaughters Caitlyn and Evelyn Thompson. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis J. Moist, two sisters and five brothers. He was the last of his immediate family. Mr. Moist retired in November 1990 from New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co. (Narehood Plant) as superintendent following 30 years service. He was formerly employed at C.H. Williams, Mount Union. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War serving as a sergeant earning two bronze stars. He was a member of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Co., Tyrone and the Newton Wayne Fire Co., Newton Hamilton. Jim enjoyed his grandchildren, his family, hunting and the Belleville auctions. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 3 p.m. at the Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
