'ARTIE' MOORE Nov. 17, 1941 - July 24, 2006 Arthur H. "Artie" Moore, 64, Altoona, died Monday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after an extended illness. He was born in Bellwood, son of Arthur K. and Anna Pearl (Walker) Moore. Mr. Moore was a member of Logan Valley Baptist Church. He retired as a pressman from the Altoona Mirror with 44 years of service. Mr. Moore was a 1959 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School. One of the most significant musical contributions Artie made was his 30 years of service in the Army National Guard from 1963-93 as a member of the 28th Infantry Division Band. His service, a labor of love, took him to a number of foreign countries. He had played in a number of local bands in the 1960s and 1970s including Artie and the Imperials, Prime Cut and Salt & Pepper. Mr. Moore loved music, motorcycles and his family. He was a member of American Legion Post 827 and the American Motorcycle Association. Surviving are his wife and best friend, Sue; a daughter, Anita Jennings and husband, Michael, of Altoona; a son, Scott and wife, Michelle, of Altoona; a stepdaughter, Sandy Lawson; a stepson, Daryl Lawson; six grandchildren: Morgan, Aalea, Harlem, Nate, Daryl and Blayse; a sister, Margo Smith and husband, Alvin, and family of Detroit; and a brother, Gary and family of Absecon, N.J. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 27, and 1 to the 2 p.m. services Friday, July 28, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
