Mulhern is a coal miner residing at Bennington and was aged 50 years. Deputy Coroner C. C. Rothrock was notified of the man's death and went to Bennington to conduct an investigation. Mulhern had both legs cut off and his head was crushed, he having been instantly killed. It could not be ascertained when or by what train he met death. He had been at Gallitzin during the evening and presumably was killed while on his way home. He was a single man and was employed in the mines. The body was turned over to Undertaker Quinn to be prepared for burial and Mr. Rothrock decided that an inquest was unnecessary.
