All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ LOUIS MUNZERT Died at his home, 1801 Eighth avenue, this morning at 1:10 o'clock, after an illness of one year, of paralysis. He received the first stroke about one year ago. On December 24 last he was again stricken while on his way home and never regained consciousness afterwards. The deceased was born in Prussia, Germany, in 1831, and came to this country when a boy 11 years of age. On April 21, 1861, he was married in the Lutheran church at Hollidaysburg to Miss Mary Neely, who, with the following children, survive: Mrs. George Ott, Mrs. John Ehringer, Mrs. John Winaugle, all of this city, and Jessie, Mamie, Edward, Alfred and Louis at home, and one adopted daughter, Mrs. Annie Rickabaugh of Indiana. Two children, Junie and John, preceded him to the grave. Mr. Munzert was one of the best known men in the city, and could number his friends by the score. He was a kind and loving father and husband. He had been in the employ of the Pennsylvania railroad company for the past 33 years. He served in the late war in the 225th regiment Pennsylvania volunteers and was wounded before Petersburg. He had been a life long member of the Lutheran church. He also was a member of the Pennsylvania railroad Relief fund. The funeral will take place Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, services to be conducted at his late home by Rev. J. F. Hartman; interment in Fairview cemetery. Altoona Mirror, January 11, 1896
