At twenty minutes past 10 o'clock yesterday morning John Thomas Murray died at his residence, No. 906 Twentieth avenue, from a complication of diseases. For ten years past he had been in ill health and this illness assumed a serious phase on the 8th of January last, when he was compelled to remain in-doors. He became worse and finally was forced to take his bed, from which he never rose. His sufferings were at time intense, yet his final hours were peaceful. Mr. Murray was born in Huntingdon county, April 10, 1832, and was by occupation a farmer. Four years ago he became a resident of Altoona. He was twice married and his second wife survives. He also leaves four children - two sons and two daughters - Mary, residing with her grandmother in Stone Creek valley, Huntingdon county; William C., of Johnstown; Harry L. and Miss Myrtle M., of Altoona. Mr. Murray during his residence in Huntingdon county became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, but had not connected himself with any of the churches of that denomination in Altoona. When able, however, he attended the Chestnut avenue church. The funeral will take place Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Services at his late residence, conducted by Rev. A. E. Miller, D.D. Interment in Fairview cemetery. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday, February 23, 1891
