Murray John William Murray died at his home on North Wayne street yesterday morning at 11.10 o'clock, after an illness of six months' duration of tuberculosis. The deceased was a son of Colonel William Gray Murray and Elizabeth Dougherty Murray, and was born in Hollidaysburg on August 24, 1854. He was educated at the Hollidaysburg seminary and followed the occupation of clerking here for many years. He was employed in the general merchandise store of B. M. Johnston & Co. for a long period of time, and afterwards served as a clerk in the prothonotary's office during the term of J. L. Hartman, esq. In early life he was a devotee of athletic pursuits and was one of the pitchers of the noted Juniata Base Ball club. He took an active interest in democratic politics and was secretary of the county campaign committee at various times. He was a man of generous impulses and had a large circle of warm friends. He is survived by but one relative, a sister, Miss Mollie Murray, with whom he resided. The funeral services will be held in St. Michael's church on Monday morning at 8 o'clock.
