All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ Abraham Myers, An aged and respected citizen of Altoona, died at 9:30 o'clock last night, at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. D. L. Potter, 1224 Fifteenth avenue. The cause of death was acute asthma from which he had been a sufferer during the past winter. Mr. Myers was aged 73 years in October last. He was born in the year 1819 near Carlisle, Cumberland county. He was reared a farmer, afterward leaving that occupation to engage in the mercantile business. He was thus engaged for several years, finally going back to farming again. In 1873 he came to Altoona and has resided here since. He was a member of the First Lutheran church and a quiet unobtrusive citizen. Mr. Myers is survived by his wife, who lives with her son, Theo. A., in Philadelphia. Three children also survive him: Reuben F., and Mervin, of Dayton, O., and Emma C., wife of D. L. Potter, of this city, with whom he made his home. The funeral of Abram Myers took place at 4 o'clock this afternoon, religious services having been conducted at the residence by Rev. E. D. Weigle, of the First Lutheran church.
