Catharine Fullmer Black, daughter of Charles C. and Nellie Fullmer Black, died at the home of her parents, 1221 Eighth avenue at 10:15 o'clock last evening of heart failure. She was born in Altoona May 5, 1907, and had just started to attend the Emerson school in September. She was also a member of the primary department of the Eighth Avenue Methodist Sunday school. Besides her parents, a sister, aged 3, survives. Funeral services will be held at the house at 2:15 p.m. Monday. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery. _____ CARLES, H. Frank, 1936 (?) March 27, 1936 (?) H. FRANK CARLES EXPIRES AT HOME H. Frank Carles, aged 51, of 200 Wopsonononock avenue, for almost a quarter of a century a rural route deliveryman working out of the Altoona post office, died at his home at 12:15 o'clock this morning. He was taken ill Monday of this week when he collapsed while on his route at the lower end of Greenwood. Mr. Carles entered the post office service July 15, 1912, and is said to have been the first rural carrier to be employed at the local office. His first territory embraced rural route No. 1 which includes Juniata Gap but more recently, on July 1, 1924, he was assigned to rural route, No. 3, which takes in the Greenwood section. Within the last two years Mr. Carles figured in two automobile accidents while in the performance of duty and on both occasions was painfully hurt, spending some time in hospitals. He was first injured in March of 1934 when he suffered a compound fracture of the left lower leg and was confined to the Altoona hospital for a considerable length of time. In July of 1935, Carles was injured again when his machine was struck by another car on the East Side of this city, this accident occurring upon the first day that he had started to work after recuperating from his accident of the previous year. He was not so badly hurt this time but prior to this, in addition to spending time in the local hospital, he had been a patient for a while in a government hospital at Staten Island, N.Y. Harry Frank Carles was born April 27, 1884, in this city, a son of David and Marie (Isenberg) Carles and he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Estella (McLaughlin) Carles, and the following children: Mrs. Thomas Kiser, Jr., of Altoona, Mrs. Edward Gutshall, Jr., of Huntingdon, Mrs. Roy Shall of this city, Isabel, Harriet, Virginia, Fern, Marilynd and Eugene Carles, all at home. Two brothers and a sister also survive, Chester B. Carles and Ralph D. Carles and Miss Rella Carles, all of this city. There are seven grandchildren. The deceased was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, camp, No. 8005. The funeral is to be held at the home on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. Dunkelberger. McLEOD Died at his home, 1219 Seventeenth avenue, this morning at 1:30 o'clock of a complication of diseases, following an illness of one month's duration. He was born in Scotland and came to the United States when but 3 years of age. He resided in Gloucester, Mass., for many years and twelve years ago came to this city and took up his residence here, after securing employment in the local shops. He was employed in the Twelfth street tool rooms, as a machinist. He was united in marriage to Miss Martha Waite of this city, twenty years ago, who survives. _____ OAKES, Atlee L. "Acorn," 1981 ATLEE L. (ACORN) OAKES 52, of Box 145, Lower Reese, Hollidaysburg RD 3, died at 1:17 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 1981, in Mercy Hospital, following an extended illness. Known as Acorn, Mr. Oakes retired as a heavy equipment operator from New Enterprise Stone & Line Co. in June 1980, after 15 years' service. He was born Feb. 5, 1928, in Loysburg, the son of Homer R. and Mabel I. (Smith) Oakes, and June 28, 1954, in Winchester, Va., married Doris L. Zimmerman. Surviving are his wife, his mother at home and four brothers, Gerald of Casa Grande, Ariz.; Ronald and Kenneth of Martinsburg and Donald of Roaring Spring. Mr. Oakes was an honorary member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union of Johnstown. OBERLE Of Claysburg RD, died at 12:30 p.m. yesterday, March 21, 1972, in Altoona Hospital, where he was admitted earlier in the day, after a short illness. He was born April 2, 1905, in Millvale, a son of George and Anna (Spitzner) Oberle, and married Josephine Walter of Claysburg RD. Surviving are his wife, three sons, Eugene of Claysburg RD, David of Bedford RD and Timothy E. of Mahwah, N.J.; four grandchildren and two brothers, Lewis and Henry J. of Pittsburgh. Mr. Oberle retired Sept. 30, 1968, from the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, where he was an instructor, after 30 years' service. Paul O'Brien, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 1973, in Ohio Valley Hospital, Steubenville, Ohio, after a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 29, 1892. Surviving are seven children, 17 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren, and a sister. She was the daughter of Thomas G. and Anna E. (Shaffner) Herbert, and was married to Charles J. O'Brien, who died March 21, 1958. Surviving are three children, Thomas H. of Rockville, Md., and Charles J. Jr. and Mrs. Connie Hart of Denver, and several grandchildren. He was born March 13, 1899, in Ore Hill, the son of Andrew and Nora O'Neil, and married Esther Cartwright, who died April 16, 1970. Mr. Orwick was a self-employed trucker and farmer and contract carrier for Sealtest Dairies since 1948. He was a member of the Allport United Methodist Church, Tyrone Horsemen's Association and Fort Fetter Riding Club. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Bertha E. Springer of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren, a great-grandson and a sister, Mrs. Gertrude C. Muri of Altoona. Mrs. Oster was a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church and Wide Awake Sunday School Class, member and president of Bellwood VFW Auxiliary and a member of Ladies Auxiliary, Fort Fetter Post, American Legion. He was born June 20, 1905, in Altoona, a son of John I. and Mary (Sidler) Oswald, and married Rebecca Geisler on July 17, 1929. Surviving are his wife, two children, Raymond of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Marie Nagle of Altoona; 11 grandchildren and a brother and sister, Mrs. Emma Grannas and Andrew of Altoona. Mr. Oswald was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Holy Name Society and Knights of St. George. He was born Oct. 9, 1888, at Duncannon, a son of James T. and Emma (Spence) Owen, and was married to Hazel Briggs Kitting. Surviving are his wife and one grandson. Mr. Owen was employed by Penn Power & Light Co., for 30 years. He was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Cannon Lodge, F&AM, Seaville, N.J., for more than 60 years, and a member of Sky Crest High Twelve Club of Clearwater, Fla., VFW of Harrisburg and Disabled American Veterans of P___las County, Fla. She was born July 22, 1881, in Flinton, a daughter of Courtes and Emma (Troxell) Flemming, and married William H. Oshall, who died in 1961. Surviving are five children, Courtes of Coalport Rd, Ammon of Flinton, Floyd of Coalport, Mrs. Hulda Spangler of Howard and Mrs. Wilda Gates of Colver; 25 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, four sisters and a brother, Mrs. Alice Glasgow and Mrs. Sue Delozier of Glasgow, Mrs. Enid Kutruff, Mrs. Lena Harpster and Doss of Flinton RD. ANNIE SMITH Of 921 Sixteenth street, died at her home yesterday evening at 6 o'clock of uremia. She was born in Huntingdon county, July 22, 1845, and was aged 68 years, 5 months and 11 days. She was a member of the Washington Burial association. Surviving are one son, C. A. Smith of 1304 Eighth avenue and one grandson, Jacob Cyne Smith. Funeral services will be held from the home of the son, 1304 Eighth avenue. The funeral will be held on Monday afternoon, services to be held at the late residence, 1304 Eighth avenue, at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in Rose Hill cemetery. _____ WOMER, Margaret, 1914 January 3, 1914 MRS. MARGARET WOMER Died at the home of her son, R. H. B. Womer, 1923 Fourth avenue, at 12:30 o'clock this morning, of cirrhosis of the liver. She had been a resident of the city for the past two years and previous to that time had resided in Bellwood. For the past eight weeks Mrs. Womer had been quite ill. She was born at Bald Eagle Furnace, March 15, 1835, and was married about sixty-three years ago to William Womer, now deceased, a prominent superintendent of furnaces during the past half century. She was a faithful member of the Simpson Methodist church. Three sons and four daughters survive: W. T. Womer of Burnham, Mrs. Harry Singleton of Lewistown, J. W. Womer of Munhall, Mrs. C. F. _ias of Chicago, Misses Nel and Laura of this city, and R. H. B., at whose residence she died. Three sisters one of whom is Mrs. Ellen Womer of Dudley, Bedford county, and one brother survive also. Three children preceded her to the grave, Mrs. E. M. McLean, F. M. and H. F. Womer. The funeral will be held on Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock with services at the house in charge of Rev. Vaughn T. Rue, pastor of the Simpson Methodist church. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery. _____
