Adam McFerlin Nash, of 1312 Twelfth avenue, caretaker of the Jaggard estate properties in this city for the last forty years, died suddenly at his home Saturday morning at 10.35 o'clock, after being stricken while shoveling snow. In 1915, the veteran suffered a stroke of paralysis while working as a painter on the Pennsy office building on Twelfth street, and had never fully recovered, although he was able to be about and perform light duties. He fell over in the rear yard of his home and his wife was attracted by a groan. The stricken man was taken into the house and a physician was summoned. He lost consciousness and sank rapidly until death came. Mr. Nash was born August 18, 1842, in Catherine township, Blair county, and remained there until the outbreak of the Civil war, when he enlisted with Company E, Eighty-fourth Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was twice wounded in the war. He came to this city after the war and was employed by the Jaggards ever since 1877. He was a member of the Grace Methodist Episcopal church, Fred C. Ward Post 468, G.A.R., and the Union Veteran Legion. His wife survives with two foster children, Mrs. Charles Leonard and Mrs. E. R. Myers, both of this city. Funeral services will be held from the late residence at 2.30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, followed by burial in Oak Ridge cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday morning, March 5, 1917
