"Butch" Nau, 79, of 615 North 11th Street, Bellwood, died Saturday, April 12, 2003 at the Altoona Hospital. He was born July 21, 1923 at Osceola Mills, the son of Charles E. and Anna L. (Miller) Nau. He was married December 22, 1945 in Tyrone to Margaret Miller. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, two sons, Charles E. of Huntsville, Al., and Larry E. of Fostoria, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and two sisters Irene Vallela of Altoona and Doris Garman of DuBois. He attended Logan Valley Baptist Church. He served his country during World War II as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne, with combat duty in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Normandy. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal and the Distinguished Service Cross for extra-ordinary heroism in connection with military operations in 1944. He retired as a car repairman in 1983 from Conrail after 42 years of service. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Tyrone with Rev. Peggy J. Bonsell officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Baughman Cemetery, Snyder Township. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. Tyrone Daily Herald, April 14, 2003
