Nearhoof, 59, of Tyrone RD2, died Wednesday morning, May 17, 2006 at her home. She was born October 23, 1946 in Altoona, a daughter of Chalmer L. and Dorothy Mae (Benn) Detwiler. She married Gerald W. Nearhoof on November 11, 1967 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood. Mrs. Nearhoof is survived by her husband; sons: Terry L. and fiancee, Anita of Tyrone RD2, Scott A. of Altoona and Todd W. at home; grandchildren: Brennan, Katrina and Drake; her father of Tyrone RD2; brothers: Larry G. Detwiler and wife Nancy, Ronald L. Detwiler and wife Donna and Gary A. Detwiler and wife Debbie, all of Tyrone RD2; sisters: Jolene M. McRae and husband John of Waynesboro and Wanda K. Longfellow and husband Michael of North Chili, NY; brother-in-law: Dave Nearhoof and wife Gina of Lewistown, MT and sisters-in-law: Susan Jones and husband Mike of Altoona and Kathy Nau and husband Larry of Tyrone RD2. She was preceded in death by her mother on October 14, 2005. Mrs. Nearhoof was owner of Alliance Occupational Health Service Inc., Roaring Spring. She was a 1964 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and a 1967 graduate of the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Nearhoof was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Bellwood. She enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling and supporting children and her family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 19 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006 at the funeral home with Rev. Norman Huff officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sandra's memory may be made to Blair County Chapter American Cancer Society or Home Nursing Hospice. Tyrone Daily Herald, May 19, 2006
