Nelson, wife of John A. Nelson, died on Saturday evening at 5:20 o'clock in the family home at 1014 Second street, Juniata. The deceased lady was in poor health for some time and was confined to her bed for about seven months of the past year with a complication of diseases. Her death was directly due to an attack of pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson spent most of their thirty-six years of wedded life on a farm in Homer Gap, now occupied by their son James. Several years ago they came to live in a new home in Juniata but with an inclination for the soil that would not be denied then again engaged in farming near Kladder Station. Failing health of the wife was doubtless one of the reasons that induced Mr. Nelson to again bring his household to Juniata, and they had occupied the comfortable town house in the First ward less than a month when the end of her life came. Mrs. Nelson was a daughter of John and Rachel Reigh and was born at Elizabeth Furnace on October 1, 1863. She was united in marriage to the now bereaved husband in January, 1883, and the pair reared a fine family on the homestead in Homer Gap. Surviving with the father are the following children: Mrs. W. S. Simpson and Mrs. Harry Craine, of Juniata; Aaron, Benjamin and Dewey, of Hollidaysburg; James, of Homer Gap, and Stella, at home. The parents of the deceased lady are long since dead, but she is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Elizabeth Nelson, Mrs. Ella Zeigler, Mrs. Harry Boyles, Mrs. Kyle Hagerty, Frank and Martin L. Reigh, all of Juniata. Mrs. Nelson was a woman known for her gentle, Christian character and her good works. She was a housewife of the sort whose joy it is to give ample hospitality to her friends and her table was proverbial for its excellent fare. Worshipping in the plain faith of the Church of the Brethren, she was a valued member of the denomination in Juniata and was constant in attendance at the services as her health permitted. Service over her remains will be held in the church edifice at Ninth avenue and Third street, Juniata, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock and will be conducted by the Rev. J. W. Wilt, of Juniata, and the Rev. Jacob Kinsel, of Altoona. Interment will be made in Asbury burial ground. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday Morning, December 4, 1916
