All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ Juniata Woman Dies 28 Hours After Husband Mrs. Edna Luella Nelson of 611 Sixth avenue, Juniata, who would have observed her 35th wedding anniversary today, died at 3.10 o'clock this morning, just 28 hours after her husband, James McCune Nelson, passed away at the home. Funeral services for Mr. Nelson had been arranged for Saturday afternoon, but following the unexpected death of Mrs. Nelson after a lengthy illness, the family announced that a double funeral for Mr. and Mrs. Nelson will be conducted Sunday afternoon at the home. Mrs. Nelson was born April 4, 1892, at Port Royal, Juniata county, a daughter of John W. and Edith (Bogan) Bitner. Surviving are one son, James John Nelson, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Marie Brackbill of Juniata, Mrs. James Harpster of Tyrone, R.D. 1, and Mrs. Robert Dunn and Miss Nina Nelson, at home. A son, Stanford, was killed in action in World war II. Four grandchildren also survive along with these brothers and sisters: Oliver Bitner of York, Howard of Thompsontown, Mrs. Harry Keim, Mrs. George Sprankle and Mrs. Thomas Koehler, all of York, Mrs. Nelson Amey of Richfield and Mrs. Lloyd Daugherty of Millerstown. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church, Juniata. Friends will be received at the home.
