Nicodemus, a well known citizen of Martinsburg, died at his home at that place at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon of pneumonia after an illness of ten days. Deceased was born at Martinsburg on September 12, 1840, was aged 78 years, 4 months and 26 days and had resided practically all his life in that vicinity. He was a veteran of the Civil war, having served four years in Company M, Sixty-second Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was also a veteran employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad company, having worked for a period of thirty-five years in the Altoona car shops before retiring some eight years ago. He was thrice married. His first union was with Mary Stoner, who preceded him to the grave in 1894. These children survive this union: Harry W., Edgar E., Samuel E., all of this city; Charles E., of Keokuk, Ia., and John S., of Martinsburg. His second union was with Sarah Brumbaugh, who passed away in 1898. In 1904 he married Mrs. Elizabeth Burket, who survives, as does also one sister, Mrs. Sarah Dilling, of Ramlin, Kan. He was a member of the Church of God and was esteemed and respected by those who knew him. The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon, services in the Church of God at 2 o'clock.
