Niece, son of Captain M. Niece, of this city, died at Deadwood, South Dakota, on the 6th inst., in the 50th years of his age. He had been ailing with rheumatism for some months and about six weeks previous to his death received a stroke of paralysis which left him insensible for several hours. He rallied, however, and was able to be about until a few hours before his death, which was due to rheumatism of the heart. Mr. Niece was born in McVeytown, in 1841. He enlisted and was elected second lieutenant of company K, Forty-ninth Pennsylvania volunteers; afterward was promoted to adjutant of the regiment. He is survived by one son, a member of the United States marine corps. He was buried on the 8th inst. by the Keogh post, Grand Army of the Republic, at Deadwood, S.D.
