NOKES [photo] Lifelong Resident of Hollidaysburg Dies in Hospital Gilbert Lloyd Nokes, 80, of 217 Newry street, Hollidaysburg, a lifelong resident of Hollidaysburg where he formerly served as a member of the borough council and a retired employe of the Altoona works, died at 7.05 o'clock Saturday evening in Nason hospital, Roaring Spring. He had been a patient in the hospital for the past three weeks. Mr. Nokes was born May 17, 1874, a son of Thomas and Almira (Hewitt) Nokes, and resided all his life in the house in which he was born. On April 30, 1898, in Hollidaysburg, he married Miss Dollie May McIntire, who died June 30, 1953. He was a member of the Hollidaysburg Methodist church. Mr. Nokes retired from the railroad company service in the spring shop in 1932. Surviving are two daughters and one son, Mrs. Ethel Lang of Hollidaysburg, Dr. John Nokes of Charlottesville, Va., and Mrs. Dorothy Hair of Roaring Spring; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A daughter, Mary Evelyn, also preceded him in death. He was the last member of his immediate family, four brothers preceding him in death. Friends are being received at the Creamer & Plank funeral home, Hollidaysburg.
