Sunday afternoon James O'Brien, one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of this city, died at his home, No. 955 Seventeenth street, at half-past 3 o'clock, of general debility incident to old age. He was born in Emmetsburg, Md., and would have been 85 years of age had he lived until the 3d of February. For over thirty years he had been a faithful employe of the company and up until about a year ago he continued at his work, when the infirmities of old age multiplied so rapidly that he was forced to relinquish his position. He had been bedfast since New Year's day and, though his death was expected, yet it was a shock to his immediate family. Besides his aged wife ten children survive, they being Mrs. A. J. Wills and Miss Ettie O'Brien, who reside at the parental residence; Mrs. John Zeak, of this city; Mrs. John Eirewein, of Buffalo; William and Charles O'Brien, of Columbus, O.; James, John, Margaret and Alice O'Brien, of Junction City, Kansas, and Levi O'Brien, of Gettysburg. Several sisters also survive. The funeral arrangements will be announced to-morrow. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday, January 12, 1891
