O'Donnell, of 1609 Fifth avenue, died at 7:30 o'clock Saturday morning, in his 87th year. He was one of the few surviving boatmen of the old canal times, having in early manhood been employed on the Hollidaysburg and on the Chesapeake and Ohio canals. He was also a veteran P.R.R. employe, having been retired September 1, 1902. He was born on August 5, 1832, at Munroe Furnace, Huntingdon county, and observed his 86th birthday but two weeks ago. He was twice married, his first wife, Miss Sarah Crabtree, having died 42 years ago. To this union were born the following children all of whom survive: J. A. O'Donnell of 2823 Third avenue, South Altoona; Mrs. George Reddick, of 2021 Third avenue; C. W. O'Donnell, of 1314 Sixteenth avenue and Mrs. G. B. Lykens of 1609 Third avenue at whose home he has lived for the past nineteen years. Mr. O'Donnell was the oldest Redman in Altoona and was a member of Wopsononock tribe No. 356, Improved Order of Redmen. He was also a member of the P.R.R. Veterans association and of the Church of God. He had many friends in the Twelfth street shops and it was his daily custom since his retirement to visit the shops daily. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock at his late home, 1609 Fifth avenue with services at the Church of God, at Sixth avenue and Fourteenth street.
