ORMSBY - In Martinsburg, on the 7th inst., Ollie, eldest son of O. H. and Florence Ormsby, aged 5 years and 2 days. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday, July 12, 1880 MARTINSBURG MATTERS. IN MEMORIAM. An afflicting Providence has again visited our midst and called from the family of Mr. O. H. Ormsby, "Ollie," the oldest boy, the darling of the family, and the lamb of the fold, away to heaven. Ill with a complication of diseases for more than a week, all that love and skill could do to restore him was done, but in vain. The Shepherd called and the little lamb entered into the blessed fold, to go out no more forever. Earth has a warbling spirit less and heaven a happy songster more. Little Ollie was a boy of great promise and exhibited wisdom much beyond his years. His conversation gave evidence that he thought and reflected more than most of those of his age. His disposition was such as to win friends wherever he was acquainted, and was a favorite with old and young. He was modest and respectful in the company of those older than himself, and yet frank and manly. He was also a favorite at home, on account of his kind, obliging and affectionate disposition, and fondly attached to father, mother, brother and sisters. In their childish sports, when anything savoring of dissention arose, Ollie was always first to yield, and willing and ready at all times to forgive a real or fancied injury. Being a universal favorite, and on account of his sweet disposition the light and joy of the home, Ollie's death causes a large vacancy, but while his sorrowing friends lament his early departure, there is comfort to them in the thought that their loss is his eternal gain. Ollie was born July 2, 1874, and died July 7, 1880, aged 5 years and two days. On the 8th we laid him to rest, until the voice and hand of Jesus shall raise him up, and death shall be swallowed up in life and victory. Tenderly do we sympathize with the stricken and bereaved father and mother, but "Gentle Shepherd, Thou has stilled Now Thy little lamb's sore weeping; Ah! How peaceful, pale and mild, In its narrow bed 'tis sleeping. And no sigh of anguish sore Heaves that little bosom more. "In this world of care and pain, Lord, Thou would'st no longer leave it; To the sunny, heavenly plain Does thou now in joy receive it, Clothed in robes of spotless white, Now it dwells with Thee in light."
