Miss Mary Amanda Orr, one of the most estimable and well known residents of Sinking Valley, died at the old Orr homestead in that valley Thursday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, of neuralgia of the heart. She has been a sufferer with rheumatism for a number of years but despite her affliction was able to be about Thursday and her death came as a shock to her relatives and friends. Deceased was the daughter of William H. and Margaret Orr, deceased, and was born in Sinking Valley and was aged about 52 years. She had resided all her life in the valley and enjoyed a wide acquaintanceship both there and in the surrounding country. She was a member of the Arch Spring Presbyterian church, took an earnest interest in the affairs of the church and was esteemed by all of the congregation. She is survived by four brothers and two sisters as follows: S. K., Thomas B., J. C. and Grant Orr, Mrs. Letitia Bush and Miss Permilla Orr, all of Altoona. The funeral took place from her late home Saturday morning at 10 o'clock and interment was made in the Arch Spring cemetery. The Tyrone Herald, Thursday, July 13, 1911
