MOLLIE R. ALBRIGHT Wife of Frank G. Albright of 1107 Logan avenue, Tyrone, died last night at 10.10 o'clock at her home following an illness of several years. She was a daughter of Thomas K. and Margaret (Alloway) Orr and was born in Altoona, Oct 7, 1872 and was united in marriage with Mr. Albright in September, 1897, who survives, with these children: Mrs. Paul T. Budgell of Winchester, Mass., Miss Ardis Albright, at home, Thomas C. Albright and Sgt Robert F. Albright, with Patton's army in Germany, and one sister, Mrs. William Dougherty of St. Petersburg, Fla. She was a member of the First English Lutheran church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of American Revolution in Tyrone. Altoona Mirror, December 5, 1944 _____ VIOLA ELIZABETH BENTON Of 889 Texas Ave., York, a native of Altoona was pronounced dead on arrival at York Hospital on Oct. 18, 1974, after her car was struck broadside by a loaded tractor-trailer in West Manchester Twp. York County. Mrs. Benton, 74, was the daughter of James Crawford and Elizabeth (Fleck) Orr, and married Armour S. Benton. Surviving are her husband, a son, James O. of York, and two granddaughters. She was a member of Calvary United Presbyterian Church, York. Interment was made in York. Altoona Mirror, October 24, 1974 _____ JANET HILLARY BRUBAKER Mrs. Janet Hillary Brubaker, 72, Ramey, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 1996, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was born Aug. 1, 1923, in Altoona, the daughter of Warren E. and C. Adeline (Westley) Roy. She married Eugene Brubaker. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Brubaker was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She had been employed as a secretary at Penn State University. Mrs. Brubaker was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a 1941 graduate of Altoona High School. Surviving are a sister, Joan R. Lentz of Lower Gwynedd; and a half brother, Robert F. of Doylestown. Friends will be received from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Juniata. WALTER CALVERT Of 601 East Walton avenue, died at 9.30 o'clock this morning at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Calvert was born Aug. 19, 1873, in Sinking valley, a son of W.H. and Catharine (Orr) Calvert. He was twice married, to Effie Shultzberger and Lilly Whetstone. Both preceded him in death. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Hazel Mays and Miss Katharyne, at home; Oscar W. of Huntingdon and W. Clair of Duncansville; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Altoona Mirror, October 1 & 3, 1955 _____ W. CLAIR CALVERT W. Clair Calvert, 64, of 1134 Sixth Ave., Duncansville, father of James A. Calvert of Maple Hollow, well known as an insurance agent in the Cove area, died following surgery for a heart condition at 4 p.m. Sept. 14, 1971, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Liebegott Funeral Home, Duncansville, by the Rev. Gerald Miller. Burial was in Carson Valley Cemetery. He was born in Altoona, Jan. 30, 1907, a son of J. Walter and Effie (Schultzberger) Calvert, and on Oct. 31, 1929, was married to Aletta S. Liebegott of Duncansville at the Duncansville Lutheran Church by the Rev. G.B. Harmon. Mr. Calvert was employed as an electrician by the Penn Central Railroad. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Portage Lodge F. and A.M. Scottish Rite bodies, Jaffa Shrine Temple and its Oriental Band, and the Heidelberg Country Club. Surviving are his wife, three children, James A. and William C. of Maple Hollow, and Mrs. Margaret Mervine of Augusta, Ark.; 12 grandchildren, and a sister Kathryne of Duncansville. She was a daughter of Samuel K. and Jean Allen Westley. Surviving are two sons, Richard W. and John A. Carroll, and the sister, Mrs. Dean. Interment was made at Alexandra. She was born in Sinking Valley on July 13, 1870, a daughter of George and Rachel (Stalker) Orr and in 1899 in Williamsburg married Frank E. Fleck. Surviving are two sons, Leroy of Crestwood, N.Y., and Donald of Altoona, and four grandchildren. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and the D.A.R. Mrs. Kiefer was born in Altoona, the daughter of John Orr and Harriet (Keith) Orr. She is survived by two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Minnie Orr Kipple, Mrs. Jessie Strunk and Clyde K. Orr, all of Altoona, [to]gether with several nieces and nephews. MINNIE (ORR) KIPPLE Wife of Andrew Kipple of 1207 Eighth avenue, died at 4 o'clock this morning after an extended illness. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of John and Harriet (Keith) Orr, her father having been a former sheriff of Blair county. Mrs. Kipple married forty-six years ago and was a lifelong resident of the city. Surviving are her husband, one sister and one brother, Mrs. Harry H. Strunk and Clyde Orr, both of the city. Lynch, died at 3.55 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. W. Miller of 324 East Pleasant Valley boulevard, after an extended illness. She was the daughter of Samuel K. and Susan (Keith) Orr, and was a member of the Third Presbyterian church. Mrs. Lynch was a teacher of music in Altoona for a number of years, and belonged to the Altoona chapter of Eastern Star, and the Ladies Auxiliary to the B. of R. T. Mr. Lynch died about seven years ago. Surviving are one step-daughter, Mrs. Samuel Kunsman; one brother, Edward C. Orr, both of Altoona, and three nephews and two nieces. Altoona Mirror, June 2, 1948 _____ ELEANOR JEAN (ORR) MILLER Mrs. Miller, 71, of 517 1st St.., died at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1986, in the Valley View Home, following an extended illness. Mrs. Miller retired as a school guard from the Altoona Area School District in 1979 after 26 years' service. She was born Nov. 23, 1914, in Altoona, the daughter of Earl G. and Nellie (Arnsbarger) Orr, and Jan. 1, 1940, in Altoona, married Homer R. Miller. Surviving are her husband, three daughters; Judith Ann Dunio, Linda Dibert and Suzanne Garlick of Altoona and eight grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Raymond of Lubbock, Texas. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Stevens Mortuary. Orr, former Tyrone postmaster, died at 6.30 o'clock Monday evening in the Clearfield hospital after four months' illness. She had resided with her daughter, Mrs. Percy E. Smith of Curwensville, her only survivor, Mrs. Orr was born in Sinking Valley on Aug. 23, 1867, a daughter of Phillip and Annie (Bodley) Bridenbaugh and on Dec. 27, 1899, married Mr. Orr, who died in May, 1936. Walton Ave., died at 4.35 p.m. yesterday at his home. He was born June 3, 1888, a son of Frank and Jenny (Benson) Orr. He was a former P.R.R. Pittsburgh Division conductor, retiring Jan. 1, 1953, after 47 years of service. Mr. Orr was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ and the B. of R.T. Lodge 498. He was born in Altoona Jan. 6, 1886, a son of Samuel K. and Sue (Keith) Orr. Mr. Orr retired as a brakeman in March, 1942, after 38 years service with the Pennsylvania railroad. He was born in Altoona March 16, 1871, a son of Samuel and Susan (Keith) Orr. He was a retired machinist in the truck shop of the Pennsylvania Railroad company. Surviving are three nephews and two nieces, Raymond E. Orr of Lubbock, Tex.; Capt. Fred Orr in the army at Fort Devins, Mass.; Melvin Orr of Philadelphia, Mrs. Homer Miller and Mrs. Cyril Conrad, both of Altoona. Mr. Orr was a member of the Church of the Brethren. ORR Of 311 Fourth avenue, a veteran of World war No. 1, died at his home at 8.45 o'clock this morning. He was born in Altoona on Jan. 18, 1889, a son of John and Harriet (Keith) Orr, and married Miss Ruth Patton. Mr. Orr was associated with his brother, Clyde, in the operation of a gasoline station at Seventh avenue and Fourth street for a period of thirty-five years. He served for a period of twenty-one months overseas as a member of the 56th engineer corps during the first World war. Surviving are his wife, four daughters and two sons, Harriet, Carolyn, John, William, Virginia and Gayle; three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Minnie Kipple, Mrs. Jessie Strunk, Clyde and Mrs. Jennie Kiefer, all of the city. MARGARET ORR One of Blair county's oldest and most respected residents, died at her home in Sinking Valley yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock of a bowel affection, after a very brief illness. Her death was sudden and unexpected. Deceased was 65 years of age and had been a resident of Blair county for the greater portion of her life. Besides her husband - William Orr - she is survived by the following named children; John Orr, ex-sheriff of Blair county; J. Crawford Orr, of the firm of Blake & Orr, and Mrs. O. P. Bush, all if this city; Thomas, Warren, Mary and Millie Orr reside at home. The funeral will take place from the late residence Wednesday. Services will be conducted at the house at 10 a.m. and the interment will be made in the Presbyterian cemetery at Arch Spring. November 4, 1895 clipping _____ MRS. MARIE JANE ORR Formerly of 103 Fifth Avenue, died at the home of her mother, 401 South Eighth St. at 1.30 o'clock this morning. She was born in Altoona, April 17, 1889, a daughter of Thomas and Annie (Trout) Kerlin. She was the widow of Dorsey B. Orr, who died on March 15, 1935. She is survived by two sons, Capt. Frederick Orr, United States Army, who recently returned from overseas and is stationed at Camp Chaffee, Ark., and Melvin, at home; one grandson, Frederick, jr.; her mother, one brother, Raymond T. Kerlin of Altoona, and the following sisters; Mrs. D. J. Hedrick of Harrisburg, Mrs. E. J. Webb of Cardington, O., Mrs. H. L. Rhoads and Mrs. W. B. Surviving are six sons and daughters, Mrs. Harriet Foust, Mrs. Virginia Reed and Mrs. Gayle Diehl of Altoona, Mrs. Caroline White of Orlando, Fla., William C. of State Line and John, at home; 15 grandchildren and a brother Clarence of New Cumberland. Deceased was a native of Sinking Valley, and was born Dec. 9, 1840, the daughter of the late John and Ellen Keith. She was united in marriage to Mr. Orr in 1870, who survives, together with the following children E. W. Orr and E. B. [D. B.] Orr, both at home; Mrs. Ella Mchaffey [Mehaffey?] and Earl G. Orr of Altoona. She is also survived by one brother, Andrew Keith of this city. Mrs. Orr had been a resident of Altoona for many years. Funeral services will be conducted at 2.30 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon at the home, in charge of Rev. W. S. Long, pastor of the First Church of the Brethren. ORR An aged and respected citizen of Sinking Valley died at 6:30 o'clock yesterday morning, at his residence, near Culp P.O. of causes incident to old age. He was aged 81 years, 4 months and 24 days. Mr. Orr was twice married. In the year 1839 he was wedded to Miss Catharine Crissman and to this union two children were born - G. W. Orr, of Lincoln, Neb. and Mrs. William H. Calvert, of Altoona. His first wife dying in 1843, he again married in 1846, his second wife being Miss Margaret Moore, of Logan township who died four years ago. The fruits of this marriage were nine children all of whom survive and who are Mrs. O. P. Bush, of Tyrone, S. K., John, J. C. and U. G. Orr all of Altoona and Thomas, Woods and Millie of Sinking Valley. In politics he was a staunch Republican. The funeral will take place Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock. Strunk, aged 73, of 806 Sixth avenue, long associated with the grocery business in the city and president of the Altoona Wholesale Grocery company since 1935, died at 1.05 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the Altoona hospital where he had been a patient since Nov. 19. Mr. Strunkhad been a resident of Altoona for more than 50 years, coming to the city when he was 18 years old from Reedsville, where he was born Sept. 26, 1874, a son of Joseph and Letitia (Owens) Strunk. He was first employed in Altoona as a telegraph operator by the Pennsylvania Railroad company. In 1903, in association with the late William H. Orr, Mr. Strunk established a grocery store on Fourth street, near Fifth avenue, continuing the business himself from 1912 until 1922. He subsequently served for some years as market master of the Sixth Ward Farmers market, now an A. & P. Supermarket. Mr. Strunk was one of the organizers of the Altoona Wholesale Grocery company, serving as a director until 1935, and since then as president of the company. On Sept. 22, 1898, he married Miss Jessie Orr of the city. Surviving are his wife, one daughter and one son, Mrs. Jessie Reed and Derwood A. Strunk, both of the city, and eight grandchildren. WESTLEY Charles Herbert Westley, 40, a native of Altoona residing at 11671 Indiana Ave., Detroit, Mich., was one of two men, spectators at a million-dollar fire in Dearborn, Mich., last Saturday night, who collapsed and died of heart attacks at the scene. Both men were pronounced dead on arrival at Wayne County General Hospital. The fire they were watching destroyed the Noyce Lumber Company yard and is believed to have been started by an arsonist. Mr. Westley was a member of the railroad police in Dearborn. He was born Jan. 14, 1923, a son of William S. and Ruth (Moreland) Westley and married Mollie Smithmyer of Altoona. Prior to going to Dearborn, he had operated the Wesley dairy store in the 5th ward and in Altoona was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Westley, aged 55, of 2011 West Chestnut avenue, well known local mining engineer, died at 12.50 o'clock this morning at the Altoona hospital as the result of injuries suffered Thursday morning in an automobile accident on Twelfth avenue, near Seventeenth street. Mr. Westley suffered severe lacerations of the face and chest and left knee injuries in the accident and his condition had been regarded as critical at the hospital from Thursday night. He was injured when the automobile in which he was a passenger swerved into a pole while moving east along Twelfth avenue behind a bus. William S. Westley was born in Altoona on June 10, 1886, a son of Sylvester J. and Clara J. (Moxley) Westley, and on April 20, 1910, married Miss Ruth C. Moreland of Lilly. He was a mining and civil engineer and for some years was associated with W. A. Silliman, but had engaged in business for himself since last fall. White, 76, Orlando, Fla., formerly of Altoona, died Thursday, May 10, 2001. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn R., two daughters; Marty Melton of Longwood, Fla., and Buttons Feiore of Harriman, Tenn., a sister, Phyllis Swires of Altoona; and four grandchildren. Altoona Mirror, May 15, 2001 _____ HARVEY ORR WILSON Harvey Orr Wilson, 54, veteran of World war I and employed as custodian at the Eagle home, was found dead of natural causes in his room in the Milner hotel at 2 o'clock this morning, Chief of Police Vaul E. Rouzer reported today Coroner D. Harold Troxell attributed death to a heart attack. Mr. Wilson was born in Altoona on Sept. 2, 1897, a son of William and Lydia (Orr) Wilson. He was of the Lutheran faith, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and had served in the A.E.F. in World War I. Surviving are one sister and two brothers, Miss Clara, William C., and Walter Wilson, all of the city. Friends will be received at the Hickey funeral home after 7 o'clock tomorrow evening. Altoona Mirror, June 28, 1952 _____ WILLIAM "CHET" WILSON Of 108 First avenue, died at his home at 2:50 o'clock yesterday afternoon of a heart attack. He was born in Altoona Nov. 18, 1889, a son of William and Lydia (Orr) Wilson and was sheetmetal worker in the Second street tin shop. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Agnes (Karl) Wilson; one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Kready of Lancaster; two sons, Jack W. and Harvey O. of Altoona, and one sister, Miss Clara Wilson of York, Pa. Altoona Mirror, December 21, 1953 _____ MABEL WINGATE Formerly of 1355 Lincoln avenue, Tyrone, died at 7.25 o'clock this morning at the Leeper nursing home, Tyrone after an extended illness. Mrs. Wingate was born Feb. 8, 1870, at Spruce Creek, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John K. Templeton. Her husband, Clarence B. Wingate, died last year. Surviving are two sons, Richard W. of Tyrone and Kenneth K. of Warriors Mark, and three grandchildren. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
