At 10.40 o'clock last night James Dallas Overcash died after an illness of one day at his home, 1308 First avenue. On the evening of the Fourth he had an attack of cholera morbus, followed by cramps, and by midnight his affliction had become serious. The deceased was born in Greencastle, Franklin county, August 28, 1845. He was united in marriage to Miss Eliza J. Tritch at Greencastle, March 17, 1870. He came to Altoona twenty-seven years ago and entered the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad company. He has worked for the company ever since. At the time of his death he was employed in the wheel shop under Foreman William Miller. Mr. Overcash served in the civil war for two years and ten months in battery D., Second Pennsylvania heavy artillery. He was a member of White Cross lodge No. 354, Knights of Pythias, and of the Pennsylvania Railroad Relief. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Clarence, at home, and one daughter, Mrs. John Guiney, of Altoona; also by one brother, John G. Overcash, of Colorado, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Miles and Miss Annie Overcash, of Pittsburgh. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
