Marie Parker, 78, died Friday, November 26, 2004 at the Hershey Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 3, 1926 in Tyrone, PA, daughter of Osman and Francis Walton of Dodsworth, England. Marie graduated from Tyrone Area High School, then moved to Washington D.C., where she worked for The Pentagon during World War II. She and her family later moved to the Harrisburg area where she worked for John Wanamaker. Marie was very active in the community, most notably, she volunteered for Goodwill Industries for over 30 years. She also devoted time to knitting hundreds of baby hats, which warmed the heads of countless newborns at Pinnacle Health Systems. In addition, she was actively involved in the ARC of Dauphin County. Marie was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Harrisburg, where she sang in the choir. Her greatest joys were knitting, reading, working crossword puzzles, traveling with her family and volunteering for the good of the community. Marie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Eugene Parker. In addition to her husband, she is survived by an adoring family of four daughters and their families, Deanna Joan Diodato, Suzy Parker, Arlene Parker and Elizabeth Parker, all of Harrisburg. Marie was the beloved grandmother of four grandchildren, Dr. Aaron Diodato, Michael Diodato, Mark Diodato and Molly Diodato and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Madeline Diodato. A viewing was held on Monday, November 29 at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 30, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3700 Rutherford Street, Paxtang, beginning with a viewing from 10-11 a.m. and a funeral service at 11 a.m. The family requests memorial donations be made in support of Arlene's Keystone Residence.
