Parks, formerly of Birmingham, and who had resided in Tyrone since 1937, died Saturday at 5:25 p.m. at the Valley View Home, Pleasant Valley Blvd., after an extended illness. He was born Jan. 1, 1870 at Franklinville, Huntingdon County, the son of John D. and Emma Langley Parks. He was married May 31, 1895, at Franklinville to Beulah Zimmerman, who died in 1936. Surviving are the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Viola Burket, Roaring Spring; Mrs. Venus Morrissey, Ironsville; Mrs. Catherine Willmyer, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Mary Dickson, Altoona R.D. 3; Mrs. Treva Johnsonbaugh, Altoona; Harry Parks, Tyrone; Mrs. Harriet Fisher, Homewood; Homewood; 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; also two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Hunter, Ironsville, and Mrs. Linda Shaffer, East Freedom. He was a member of the Apostolic Church, Altoona, and had been employed on the Pennsylvania Railroad as an assistant track foreman, retiring in 1937, after 29 years of service. Funeral service will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, in charge of the Rev. Chalmer Stobbs. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery.
