Chester Parsons died at the Altoona hospital yesterday morning at 6.50 o'clock, death being caused by pneumonia. While engaged in a sham battle on the battlefield at Gettysburg early in the year, he was injured and never fully recovered. He served at Fort Niagara, in Texas and on the Mexican border early in 1917. He was injured at Gettysburg when the artillery wagon he was riding was disabled when one of the mules fell. The soldier sustained a kidney ailment [sic]. He was born in this city on July 4, 1896, the son of Harry and Sallie J. Parsons of 314 Maple avenue, and since leaving the army was employed as a yard brakeman for the Pennsy. Surviving are seven brothers and two sisters, as follows: Howard of Altoona, Ira in the aviation corps at St. Paul, Oscar, William Raymond, Harry and George E., all at home, Mrs. Jessie Stackhouse of Altoona and Ruth at home.
