PARSONS 83, formerly of 125 4th Ave., died at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1981, in Clear Haven Rest Home, Clearfield, following an extended illness. Mr. Parsons retired as blacksmith from the Fourth Street shops of the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1962, after 50 years service. He was born Nov. 10, 1897, in Altoona, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Parsons, and June 25, 1919, in Altoona, married Myrtle E. Turley. Surviving are his wife, four children, Mrs. Phyllis Walker of Tyrone and Mrs. Virginia Hunter, Daniel and Mrs. Shirley Ross of Altoona, 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Scheeler of Altoona. Mr. Parsons was a member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the A. B. Corbin bible Class and church choir. He was an army veteran of World War I. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Daniel R. Myers Funeral Home. PARSONS - Services for Ira D. Parsons, formerly of 125 4th Ave., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Daniel R. Myers Funeral Home, by the Rev. John Witmer. Interment in Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
