Patterson, sr., one of Blair county's oldest and most prominent citizens, died at his home on Newry street, Gaysport, at 5 o'clock last evening, of the diseases incident to old age. Deceased was born at Bolivar, Pa., on December 6, 1828, and was consequently aged 84 years, 4 months and 16 days. He was a son of Henry L. and Margery Patterson, prominent people in their day. Mr. Patterson was a citizen of Blair county for a great many years, and was a wide-awake citizen. He was for many years president of the old Hollidaysburg and Bedford Turnpike company. He served as burgess of Gaysport, and also served as a member of the town council and on the borough school board. He is survived by seven children as follows: Miss Clara, of Bryn Mawr; Mrs. A. H. Campbell, of Hagerstown, Md.; Mrs. J. M. King, of Springfield, Mass.; Mrs. R. C. Johnston, of Sheffield, Ala.; Mrs. J. Rolla Patton, of Gaysport; George W., and Frank B., of Altoona. One sister, Mrs. Lavina Keller, also survives. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Hollidaysburg. The funeral arrangements have not yet been perfected.
