Peightel, ex-city councilman and retired Pennsy employe, died at 12:10 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward K. Snyder, of 313 Lexington avenue. His death was caused by heart trouble and dropsy. He had been in failing health several months. Born at McConnellsburg, Fulton county, March 13, 1844, Mr. Peightel was reared and educated in his native town and came to this city at the age of 20. On June 4, 1864, he entered the service of the Pennsy and learned the trade of moulder, which he followed until his retirement on April 1, 1914. He served the corporation forty-nine years and ten months. He was twice wedded, his second bride being Miss Alice Runyeon, of this city, who died nine years ago. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Snyder, and a brother, E. N. Peightel, and a sister, both of Pittsburg; a brother in the western states, and Misses Sue and Annie Peightel, both of McConnellsburg, and Mrs. R. G. Smith, of this city. Mr. Peightel was a member of Camp 31, P.O.S. of A., this city, at the time of the organization of the state camp and was one of the first members of that camp. He served two terms successively in common council, representing the Fourth ward, from 1890 to 1896. He was assessor for one term in the Fourth ward of the city. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon. Burial will be made in Rose Hill cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday Morning, January 29, 1917
