William Albert Peters, of 505 Fifth avenue, died at 10:50 o'clock last evening, of a complication of diseases. He had been ill for two years and four months, and for the last nine weeks was bed-fast the greater part of the time. Deceased was the son of Frederick and Mary Peters, both deceased, and was born in Hagerstown, Md., July 28, 1851. He came to Altoona at the age of twenty-one, entering the employ of the Pennsy in the cabinet shop shortly afterwards. Later he accepted a position as clerk in the Jacob Leslie grocery, and after working several years again entered the service of the Pennsy. In the cabinet shop he worked all of forty-four years, his work always proving very satisfactory. Deceased was a member of the Grace Lutheran church, of Logan lodge No. 79, Knights of Pythias, charter member of Mountain City lodge of Odd Fellows, the Cabinet Shop floral association and the Pennsy relief. He married Miss Blanche Shaffer, on September 15, 1881, she surviving as do these children: E. W., H. E. and A. L., all of Altoona; five grandchildren, three brothers, Isaac, of Roanoke, Va.; John, of Wilkinsburg; Frank, of Altoona, and one sister, Miss Kate, of Altoona. Public funeral services will be held from the residence Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with interment following [in] the Rose Hill cemetery.
