All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ BENJAMIN FRANKLIN PHILIPS, Of the village of Northwood, following an affliction from rheumatism and resultant diseases for several years, passed from this life to the better life beyond on Tuesday night at 11.30 o'clock. He was a veteran of the Civil war and served in Company G, 125th regiment, Pennsylvania volunteer infantry, which was mustered into service in 1861, and participated in many battled with the army of the Potomac. He was born at Tipton, Dec. 20, 1843, having lived one day over 77 years. Before his affliction became severe he was employed by the West Virginia Pulp and Paper company and was always faithful in the discharge of his duties. On May 17, 1882, he was united in marriage with Miss Laura Belle Walker, who survives with one son, John Philips. One brother also survives, Abraham Philips of Tipton. He was a member of Sinking Spring Castle, Knights of Pythias, and of Good Will council No. 42, Junior Order United American Mechanics. Funeral services will be conducted at the home at Northwood, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, by Rev. A. S. Fasick, D.D., pastor of the First Methodist church. Interment in Eastlawn cemetery.
