Mrs. Piper spent the week-end with her son, who had been located in Philadelphia for several months, and was employed at an industrial plant. She returned home Monday evening. The young man had been in good health, with the exception of a slight cold. Late yesterday afternoon Mrs. Piper received a telegram stating that her son was in the Chester hospital, Philadelphia, and that she should come at once as his condition was critical. Nothing was mentioned concerning how Piper chanced to be in the institution. Mrs. Piper left the city at 4:10 p.m., and could not reach her son earlier than 10 o'clock last night. Shortly before 7 o'clock a message announcing the young man's death at 6:10 o'clock was received by relatives of the family. The mother did not learn of her futile trip until she reached the hospital. Today the body will likely be brought to this city for funeral services and burial. Levan Piper was born in this city about twenty years ago and was the son of Aaron S. and Lizzie Piper. He is survived by his mother. His father was a Pennsy shop foreman and died in 1915. He was educated in the local public schools and attended State college several years. Funeral announcement will be made later.
