Mrs. Mary Ann Fry Plowden

Died in Tyrone on Monday night.  She was born a slave in the 
neighborhood of Martinsburg, Va., about 90 years ago.  She escaped with 
her mother from bondage when but a child.  She was the mother of 
fifteen children, two of whom survive.  They are Gussie, of Tyrone, and 
Emma, who is the wife of her cousin, Benjamin Plowden, and a resident 
of this city.  Annie Plowden was a member of the Tyrone A.M.E. church.  
The remains were interred in the Tyrone cemetery today.
