Poet, a former resident of Altoona, died at his home, 664 North Union street, Philadelphia, on Friday morning, following a brief illness of pneumonia. He was born at Tyrone, January 28, 1856, the son of Jacob and Frances Day Poet. He had lived in Philadelphia for the past thirty years, going to that city from Altoona. He was a painter by occupation. His widow and two brothers survive, Thomas W. Poet, of this city, and John M., of Sunbury. Michael Poet, the well known furniture dealer and Civil war veteran of this city, was a cousin of the deceased. He was a member of the Baptist church and was affiliated with the Masonic lodge and the P.O.S. of A. The body was brought to this city last evening and taken to the home of his brother, Thomas W., of 1507 Third avenue, where the funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon, followed by interment in Oak Ridge cemetery.
