Points, an old and respected citizen of Roaring Spring, died at his home on Thursday, June 15, 1899, aged 67 years and 8 months. Mr. Points was reared and lived in Bedford county until twenty-two years ago, when he removed from Bedford county to this place. He spent his early life in teaching school and farming. After he came here he was a faithful employe of D. M. Bare & Co. in the paper mill until a few years ago. He was the efficient collector of taxes during the past eight years. He was a candidate for the republican nomination for the office of director of the poor at the late primary election. He was taken ill during the early part of the campaign and was deprived of canvassing the county. From this illness he never recovered. Mr. Points was a faithful Christian, a member of the church for more than forty years. He was a member of the Church of God of this place. He was kind, upright and gentlemanly and was universally beloved. He leaves a widow, Mrs. Mary Points, and Albert Points, of Akron, O.; Levi M. Points, of Glen Campbell, Pa., agent for the Pennsylvania railroad at that place; Moses A. Points, of Erie, Pa., and Mrs. Annie Dick, of this place, and one grandson, Thomas King Points. His funeral occurred on Saturday, Rev. C. H. Grove preaching his funeral sermon. A large audience was in attendance. Peace to his ashes. Morning Tribune, Wednesday, June 21, 1899
