Goodfellow, in East Hollidaysburg, at 4:30 o'clock this morning, after a lingering illness from diseases incident to old age. Deceased was born in 1812 and lived almost all her life in this community. On the 10th of February, 1840, she was married to Sheriff George Port, who preceded her to the grave four years ago. Mrs. Poet was an exemplary Christian woman. From her earliest girlhood she was a consistent member of the Methodist church and never failed in the performance of her religious duties. She possessed a kind and gentle disposition. She was a devoted wife and a true and generous friend. Though afflicted with ill health almost all her lifetime she bore her sufferings with meekness and submission which were beautiful to witness. She has left a number of friends in this place who will deeply and truly mourn her loss. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lydia Coulter, of Chicago. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. The services will be conducted by Rev. E. T. Swartz. Interment in the Presbyterian cemetery.
