CATHERINE PORTA [photo] Long Illness is Fatal to City Resident Mrs. Catherine Porta, wife of Charles H. Porta of 2824 Sixth avenue, died at her home at 1.20 o'clock yesterday afternoon after an extended illness. Mr. and Mrs. Porta celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary last Nov. 24. Mrs. Porta was born in Germany Jan. 31, 1873, a daughter of Peter and Barbara (Querin) Wolf, and came to this country as a child with her parents, residing in Altoona ever since. She and Mr. Porta were married on Thanksgiving day, Nov. 24, 1896, in St. Mary's Catholic church. Surviving are her husband, five children, Carl of the city, Vincent of Essex, Md., Miss Agnes, at home, Mrs. Marie Trexler of Eldorado and Mrs. John Trindel of Hollidaysburg; 14 grandchildren, two great- grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Porta and Mrs. Elizabeth Hoelzle of the city and Mrs. Margaret Campbell of Pittsburgh. Mrs. Porta was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and of St. Mary's branch, L. C. B. A. Friends are being received at the home.
