Potter, of Altoona, aged 52 years, died at his home in that city, on Sunday evening, from heat exhaustion. The Huntingdon Journal, Huntingdon, Pa., Friday, July 22, 1887 1880 Altoona, Blair County census - Jacob Potter, 44 Bella Potter, 43 Death of Jacob C. Potter. At a quarter of 9 o'clock Sunday evening, at his residence, No. 1909 Eighth avenue, Mr. Jacob C. Potter departed this life, after a brief illness. On Tuesday last he was compelled to seek his bed, a sufferer from heat exhaustion. He appeared to rally, however, and his sickness did not cause his friends to become alarmed until 7 o'clock on Saturday evening, when he became unconscious, and in this state remained until his death. He had not been in good health for about a year past and his enfeebled constitution would not repel the attack made upon it by this more recent, and what proved to be, fatal illness. Mr. Potter was aged 51 years, 10 months and 17 days, having been born in Morrison's Cove, Bedford county, in 1835. There he spent the early years of his life. He came to this city twenty years ago and was here known by many and by all respected. The deceased leaves a wife to mourn the loss of an affectionate husband. He also leaves four brothers and two sisters. These are: Simon and D. L. Potter, of this city; William Potter, of Stockton, Kansas; James Potter, of Van Wert, Ohio, and Mrs. David Beegle and Mrs. Harry Bloomfield, of this city. The deceased had for many years been a member of the Lutheran Church and was at the time of his death a member of the second charge in this city. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., July 21, 1887
