EVAN POWELL Mrs. Powell, wife of Evan Powell, now living on a farm near Canoe Creek, but who formerly was a resident of this city, died at the residence of her brother-in-law, James Powell, of 1618 Seventh avenue, at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. She had been sick for thirteen weeks previous to her death at the home of her husband and thinking a change would be beneficial to her health she came to this city and instead of getting any better she grew rapidly worse and died at the time stated before her husband could reach her bedside. Mrs. Powell was about 50 years of age and leaves beside her husband five children - three daughters and two sons - who are: Mrs. Annie Hutchinson, of Hagerstown, Md.; Mrs. Lydia Heffner, of this city, and Jennie who lives at home and Harry and Doll who also live at home. Altoona Tribune, March 14, 1889 Note: The 1880 Altoona, Blair county census shows Evan (52), Louisa (42), with children Lydia, Jane, Henry and Evan.
