He, with his brother, was sawing ties at the foot of a log shute, used by a saw mill near by. The young men saw the log coming and tried to get out of its way, but the log seemed to follow them and struck them both. The one was insensible at the time, while the other did not appear to be so badly hurt. It afterwards appeared that he was the most seriously hurt. It is thought that he never recovered from the shock - that reaction never took place. He died last Thursday morning and was buried on Friday in Birmingham.
