All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ JOHN ABRAM QUARRY John Abram Quarry, a well known and highly respected young man of this place, died Sunday evening at 7 o'clock, of a complication of diseases, at his home in West Martinsburg. This is the second time recently that the Angel of Death has visited this home, the little daughter being buried on New Years day. Mr. Quarry was born at Curryville on May 27, 1900, being aged 20 years, 11 months and 11 days. He was the son of Reuben K. and Mrs. Nannie S., deceased, Quarry. He was married on June 10, 1919, to Miss Amanda Crist of Roaring Spring, one child being born to this union, Gladys Leona, deceased. He is survived by his wife, his father, of Curryville, two sisters, Mrs. H. W. Seedenburgh and Mrs. Olin Brown, and one brother, Lloyd Irvin Quarry, all of this place. Mr. Quarry had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad company in various capacities, first in the South Altoona shops and later as a fireman on the Pittsburg division, and previous to his illness had been employed as a section hand on the Martinsburg branch. The funeral was conducted on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, in St. Matthews Lutheran church and was in charge of Rev. E. R. Detrick, pastor of the Reformed church, assisted by Rev. Abram Metzler and Rev. D. L. Shaffer. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery at this place. The pall bearers were: J. L. Honsaker, V. G. Wineland, Clifford Honsaker, Benjamin Dick, Lloyd McGraw and Homer Stonerook. Martinsburg Herald, Friday, May 13, 1921
