James M. Ronan III, 72, affectionately known as Ro, died Saturday at home,
surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Altoona, son of the late James M.
Jr. and Annastasia “Ann” (Olkowski) Ronan. He was preceded in death by a grandson,
Connor Ronan; and infant sister, Patty Ann Ronan.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Linda McCabe, whom he married Feb. 3,
1973, in Lilly; children: Brent (Linda Stitt), James “Scoot” (Mandi Michaels) and
Lindsey Ronan (Corey Dickinson); 11 grandchildren: Olivia, Ethan, Zachary, Mason
(fiancee, Eden Taddei), Reagan, Kolby, Ky, Garrett, Gavin, Maddie and Trenten;
sisters and brother: Antoinette “Toni” Yokitis, Walt (Joan Bearer) and Jackie Ronan;
and lifelong friends, Chris Glass and Dane Harrold. He is also survived by several
brothers- and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and many “deer” friends.

Ro served in the Army National Guard for six years. He enjoyed spending time with
his grandchildren, maintaining the farm and picking blueberries. Ro was an avid
baseball player and, in his later years, maintained the Ashville Ball Field. He was
a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, where he served as a Eucharistic
Minister.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at St. Thomas
Catholic Church, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal will be at St. Thomas
Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Gibbons Funeral
Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, where a vigil service will be held. Military Rites
are in the charge of Ashville VFW and other local military organizations.
