Raffensperger, 95, Epworth Manor, Tyrone, formerly of Westwood Park, Juniata Gap, died Sunday, March 21, 2004 at the manor after an extended illness. She was born July 15, 1908, in Warriors Mark, daughter of the late Walter L. and Clara (Hagerty) Switzer. She married Harry E. Raffensperger on Dec. 19, 1934, in Altoona. He died June 24, 1970. Mrs. Raffensperger was a member of Mardorf United Methodist Church, the Gleaners Sunday school class, taught Class No. 1 in the King's Daughter's Class and belonged to the United Methodist Women. She retired as a teacher in June 1973 from the Altoona Area School District after 19 years of service. Mrs. Raffensperger was a 1927 graduate of Tyrone High School and a 1929 graduate of Indiana State Teachers College. She was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association and the Blair County Retired Employees Association. Surviving are two nieces: Joanne M. Cannistraci of Tyrone and Barbara H. Latchford of Hollidaysburg. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen S. Moore. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to time of service Wednesday at William G. Bigelow II Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home by the Rev. Edward J. Preston. Interment at Burket Cemetery, Warriors Mark.
