All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ RATH Christian Frederick Rath, one of the city's well known residents and a retired Pennsy shopman died last night at 8.15 o'clock at the home of his son, Adam Rath, Twenty-fifth avenue and Eighteenth street, of diseases incident to his advanced years. He was born in Germany on August 15, 1851 and came to this country at the age of 18 years and located in this city, where he secured employment with the Pennsylvania Railroad company. He resided here ever since and was retired from active service with the company on Jan. 1, 1917. He was a member of the First Lutheran church and the P.R.R. Relief. He is survived by seven sons and daughters as follows: Mrs. Bertha Miller of Pittsburgh and George S. Rath, with the American army in France, John A., Christian F., jr., Andrew J., Franklin Adam and Mrs. Nellie Hunk, all of this city, and by one brother, John Rath of Marshalsee, Allegheny county. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and one great grand child. Private services will be conducted on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in Oak Ridge cemetery.
