The funeral of Mr. John Reed, an aged citizen of Duncansville, whose tragic death, resulting from the kick of a horse, occurred at his home on Saturday night, attended by a very large concourse of neighbors and friends, passed through here yesterday. The remains were interred in the cemetery at Geeseytown. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Tuesday, January 27, 1891 FRANKSTOWN FACTS. John Reed, who died in Duncansville January 23, 1891, was born August 17, 1813, was aged 77 years, 5 months and 6 days. In his early life he married Mary Ann Lingafelt, who died December 13, 1863. By this union he was the father of nine children: Ann Elizabeth, wife of Isaac Mogle; Amanda Jane, wife of Robert Walls; Henrietta, wife of William Ketner; Sarah, wife of Mary Kenepp; Calvin, of Colorado; Arthur, of Duncansville, and David, of Tyrone, all living, and Mary and Lloyd, who are dead. He married a second time - Mrs. Hettie, widow of David Confer - by which he became the father of two more children, John and Emma Reed; in all eleven children and twenty-four grandchildren. For a long time he was a resident of Frankstown township. In his youth he became a member of the United Brethren church and when he moved to Duncansville he united with the Methodist Episcopal church. Services in the Lutheran church on Sunday, February 22, at 2 30 p.m., conducted by Rev. Owen Janes, and at 7 p.m. by the pastor, Rev. Isaac Krider.
