Henry Reep, in Attempting to Board a Moving Train, Thrown Under the Wheels and Received Fatal Injuries. Another of those horrible accidents resulting from the dangerous habit of boarding moving trains occurred below Allegrippus yesterday afternoon, which resulted in the death of a 12-year-old boy named Henry Reep. It appears that young Reep lives about a mile and a half below Allegrippus tower and was in the habit of spending the night with the operator at the tower, who boards at the house of the boy's parents. In following his usual custom of going to the tower the boy again attempted, what he had so often before successfully accomplished, namely, jumping on a moving train. In this instance, however, sad to relate, he failed, lost his hold and was thrown under the wheels of a westward bound freight train, drawn by engine No. 849. His left leg was badly crushed from the ankle to above the knee, and the right leg was also badly mangled. The company physician of this city was sent for, and on his arrival at the scene of the accident found that reaction had not yet occurred, and deemed it imprudent to attempt any operation until a change took place. The fearfully wounded boy was left in charge of Resident Physician Dr. Troxel, with instructions to telegraph the company physicians in case a change for the better occurred. This hoped for reaction did not take place however, and the boy at 11:40 o'clock last night breathed his last. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, May 19, 1881
