Love of Hollidaysburg Lose Their Lives. Thursday morning Rev. T. F. Reeser, Lutheran preacher at Hollidaysburg and John D. Love, a groceryman of the same town, went fishing for bass along the Juniata river. Not coming home in the evening or during the night, their families and friends became alarmed, and a search was inaugurated for them. Sometime during Friday morning, the bodies of both men were discovered in the river about 800 feet from railroad bridge No. 22, which is near Flowing Spring. The watch in the pocket of Rev. Reeser was stopped at the hour of three o'clock, and it is supposed the drowning occurred at that hour Thursday afternoon. A deep hole is in the river and a fallen tree extends into the stream near the place mentioned. It is supposed that Mr. Reeser was fishing at this point, probably standing on the tree, and by some means fell into the water. Mr. Love, it is supposed, ran to his rescue from a point fifty or a hundred feet above, and in the effort to save his comrade fell into the water also, and they were both drowned. The fish basket and tackle of Mr. Love was found at a point where it is supposed he ran from upon hearing the cries of Mr. Reeser for help. The bodies of the unfortunate men were taken to their homes on the cars about 11 on Friday, a large crowd of people being at the depot. Tyrone Herald, Tyrone, Pa., September 10, 1896
