Reffner, aged 49, of 301 East Grant avenue, an employe of the state health department and a former barber in the city, died suddenly of a heart attack Saturday noon at the office of Dr. George Good, medical director of the state health department in the county, at 1216 Fourteenth avenue. Mr. Reffner, in company with Frank Stewart, also of the health department, had visited the circus grounds in connection with their work during the morning. After lunch they went to Dr. Good's office to file a report, Mr. Reffner being stricken on entering the office. Mr. Reffner was born in Greenwood April 24, 1898, a son of Reuben and Henrietta (Palmer) Reffner. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maud (Ramsey) Reffner; one son, Charles V., and two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Manning and Mrs. Mary Campbell, both of the city. A sister, Josephine, died in 1939. He conducted barbershops in several locations before taking the state position in October, 1940, was active in Republican politics and in local sports, especially baseball. Mr. Reffner was a member of the Third Evangelical United Brethren church and a director in the Central Building and Loan association. Friends are being received at the Mauk & Yates funeral home. REFFNER - Funeral services for Charles R. Reffner, of 301 East Grant avenue, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Mauk & Yates funeral home, in charge of Rev. Thompson, assisted by Rev.
