Nicholas Reilly, an aged and respected citizen of Blair county and for many years a resident of Hollidaysburg, died at his home at Duncansville at 1:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon of diseases incident to old age. He was one of the oldest men in the county and had been in failing health for the past several weeks. Deceased was born near Dublin, Ireland, on February 2, 1830, being in his 86th year. He came to America at the age of 14 years and located in New York where he remained for a period of three years. He then came west to Cambria county and worked some time as a lumberman. He located in Hollidaysburg about 1850 and had resided there and vicinity ever since. Mr. Reilly was twice married, his first wife being Miss Julia Downs. They were married in 1855 and to this union ten children were born, seven surviving as follows: Mrs. Seth Miller, of Gaysport; T. W. Reilly, of Grove City; Mrs. W. P. Wood, N. M. Reilly, of Hollidaysburg; John J. Reilly and Mrs. H. F. Balt, of this city, and Sister Mary Hilary, of Order of Sisters of Charity. Mrs. Reilly preceded him to the grave on May 16, 1875 and in 1878 he married Miss Catherine Myers who survives with two children born to the union, David P. Reilly, of Greenwood, and Mrs. David J. Davis, of Altoona. Mr. Reilly was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church of Hollidaysburg, having been one of the contributors toward its erection. He was quiet and unassuming and enjoyed the esteem and respect of a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. The funeral arrangements will be announced later. Friends are requested to omit flowers. Woods, corner of Spruce and Union streets, Hollidaysburg, tomorrow morning. Mass at St. Mary's Roman Catholic church at 9 o'clock. Interment in St. Mary's cemetery at Hollidaysburg.
