Henry Rhines, of Roaring Spring, died at her late home on Garver street at 3 o'clock Thursday morning, death being due to acute indigestion. The circumstances surrounding this death make it one of the saddest in the history of Roaring Spring. About 4 a.m. the eldest daughter heard the baby crying and wondering why the mother did not quiet him, went into Mrs. Rhines' bedroom and found her dead. A local physician was immediately called, who said she had been dead for at least an hour, and after examination pronounced death due to an attack of acute indigestion. Mrs. Rhines was a young matron, full of life and especially devoted to her three children. She and her husband had recently bought a lovely new home on Garver street, where she spared no effort to make it ideally pleasant for her entire family. Her death came as a great shock to all who knew her. Susan Gill Rhines was born in Kingsfield, Me., May 24, 1881, and was a daughter of Jacob and Mary Gill. Later she went with her parents to Rumford Falls, Me., where she was married to William Henry Rhines in 1899. They established their new home there, where they resided for five years, after which time they came to Roaring Spring, where they have ever since lived. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran church, always active in all its work and a regular attendant at all means of worship. She was also an active member of the Winona lodge, No. 174, Daughters of Rebekah. Mrs. Rhines is survived by her husband and three children - Misses Merrile and Gladys and Master William Arthur. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary Gill, of Roaring Spring, and by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. F. A. McDonald, Mrs. Paul Martin and George Gill, all of Roaring Spring; Charles and Mrs. Isabelle Ellis, of Rumford Falls, Me., Mrs. Mary Hunter, of Wilmington, Del. Funeral services will be conducted at the late home of the deceased at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. E. Berkey. Interment will be made in Greenlawn cemetery.
