Rhoades Sr., 1002 Pennsylvania Avenue died Tuesday (August 18, 1975) at 2 a.m. at his residence of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was born September 03, 1924, the son of Larrie and Clara Rhoades. He is survived by the following sons and daughters: Patricia L. Moore, Youngstown, Ohio; David J., Dallas Texas; Arthur Jr., Tyrone; Thomas M., Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Miss Ruth Rhoades, Pinecroft; and James of Pinecroft; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Phyllis Bonsell, Oscar Rhoades, Daniel Rhoades, James Rhoades, Larrie Rhoades, Mrs. Donna Hoover, all of Tyrone; and George Rhoades of Altoona. He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Citizens Fire Company and the Tyrone Fire Police. He was retired from Westvaco Corp., on disability, and was later employed as the elevator operator at the Jones Building. Funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Tyrone, with the Rev. Eugene R. Stimer officiating. Interment will be made in Grandview Cemetery, Tyrone. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Tyrone Fire Police. Tyrone Daily Herald, August, 1975
